As you know, wipes of all kinds have flown off the grocery shelves and now, more than ever, WE URGE YOU NOT TO FLUSH ANY TYPE OF WIPES DOWN THE TOILET. Sewer overflows are the last thing our community needs right now. Thank you for your cooperation. Stay healthy!
Drop Off Used Cooking Oils & Grease
Don't let that grease go down the kitchen sink! Garland has two recycling locations to drop off your used cooking oils and grease. The Water Utilities department donates the used grease and oil to Dallas Water Utilities. It is converted into clean burning bio-fuel that powers a wastewater treatment plant in Dallas. Everyone wins! Help Garland Cease the Grease by following these simple steps:
After cooking remove food scraps and any other solids.
Once grease has completely cooled, pour it into a covered container, like an old coffee can, a rigid plastic container or, if it's empty, the original container that it came in. Be sure the container you use has a lid that fits securely.
Wipe the residual from the pan with a paper towel and dispose of it in the trash.
When your container of grease and oil is full, take it to one of the drop-off locations listed:
City of Garland Environmental Waste Services Department
1426 Commerce Street Garland, TX 75040
Hours Monday to Friday 8 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Saturday 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
Note: The construction activity at this site does not affect the recycling/oil/grease drop off areas.
Thank you for recycling! Disposing of used cooking oil down the drain leads to costly plumbing repairs. It is a leading cause of sanitary sewer overflows, clogs and stoppages.
If you are part of a Garland resident organization, such as a neighborhood watch group, community group or Homeowner’s Association, and are interested in having a Cease the Grease representative available at your next event, just let us know.
